My given name is Chandra, but those who know me best will call me Dee-Dee. I am a “Girl Raised In The South” (and thankful for it) and if you’re a southern girl, you have a nickname. I am a wife, mom, daughter, friend and a self proclaimed “Southern Belle”.
Dictionary.com defines a Southern Belle as a noun meaning a beautiful and charming woman from the southern US. The definition in my mind is totally different. Yes, we “belles” are well put together and can charm the skin off of a snake, be we are also the axes that makes our worlds go around. We are ever evolving and an awesome, well-balanced, combination of traditional values and modern day flare.
This blog is a home for the modern day “Southern Belle” who may or may not be from the south, who hates to be remotely associated the term belle in any way, and for those who embrace aspect of the phrase “southern belle’. In other words, we are talking about women (and some guys too) who strive to be the best they can be and to be a light in the lives that they touch. We’ll talk about life, love, etiquette, faith, the weather, and whatever.
I don’t know where this blog will go, but I am ready to enjoy the ride! 1-2-3-GO!
